“I’m sick and tired of having you misbehave when I’m gone. I’m ready to kick you out and let you find a new home. You don’t appreciate the home I give you!”
Has your human said this to you? My friend Blacky was sharing with me that their humans say this all of the time. Blacky isn’t sure he might be out in the cold at any time.
I’ve heard that other cats get kicked out of their home sometimes and then they wander looking for food and a warm, dry place to be. Sometimes they have to fight other cats to get what they need. If they are lucky they find a new home.
I don’t want to be homeless. I would miss my family.
WHY DO HUMANS TREAT US THIS WAY?
Why are people cruel to animals or even to other humans? They took us in because they wanted a pet or two or whatever. They knew we needed to be cared for, food, water, a clean litter box and attention. The newness wears off and their lives must get more complicated and we take up time and money to be cared for.
Sometimes I think they are not feeling well enough or strong enough to take care of us. This can be true of an older owner.
Humans can have many things that make their life more stressful and takes their attention away from us. What they may not realize is that WE could help relieve the stress by spending time with us.
WHAT YOUR MEAN WORDS DO TO US
We may not speak your language but we understand what you are saying to us. When you yell at us and threaten us we understand we don’t have your love.
So then we take action to get back at you. Like peeing on the middle of your bed. Or tearing up the furniture. Of course that just makes it worse cuz you get madder at us for doing that.
THE BOND BETWEEN A CAT AND HIS OWNER
Don’t take a chance on breaking our hearts by taking your love away. After being rejected so many times we will find a spot to be and leave you alone. Or we will run away.
Remember the times we cuddled and I purred while you petted me? I want those times again. I want you to love me like you used to. What did I do wrong?
You took me and my friends into your home. You said you would take care of us. Please make good on your promise. Not just food and water, but attention and love is important as well. And we will return it.
